Overview

Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven from domestic violence for women and their children in Arizona. Since our founding, we have transformed lives by providing shelter and support services to more than 60,000 adults and children affected by domestic violence. We provide a broad spectrum of services to victims of domestic violence, while working with professionals in the field on education, research and advocacy with the goal of ending domestic violence.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

Manages the Fillmore Commons apartment/campus in a manner that supports safety to all participants, staff and others. Responsible for record keeping of Transitional Housing applications, funding requirements, while fostering a campus environment that promotes safety and healing. Works collaboratively with all departments throughout the agency and provides ongoing support and crisis intervention in conjunction with case managers and program leadership. This position reports directly to the Transitional Housing Program Manager.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. 1. Ability to recognize and respond to impacts of domestic violence and trauma; leads by living the principles of trauma informed care. Handles daily participant relations as needed including crisis intervention.
  2. Reviews and tracks referrals and applications to housing program, provides application updates to management team, and conveys any barriers to preparing applicants for housing.
  3. Maintains records of occupancy and inventory including occupied/vacant apartments, furniture needs for new move-ins, and status reports with apartment progress and turnovers.
  4. Supervises apartment vacancies and apartment turnovers and fills vacancies.
  5. Enforces the terms of Month-to-Month rental agreements. Issues notices as needed following notification guidelines using a trauma informed approach.
  6. Collects program fees and maintains complete and accurate participant financial files and property records.
  7. Provides ongoing advocacy and support to participants. Regularly co-facilitates community solutions meetings via participant support group.
  8. Monitors all property management functions within the Transitional Housing sites to ensure quality program services and a healthy, safe & respectful living environment. Monitors documentation and record keeping relative to service provision, financial, maintenance, fire and safety.
  9. Collaborates with off-site scattered apartments needs and their property management including Monthly inspections
  10. Working with the facilities team and vendors, ensures that Transitional Housing facilities, properties, equipment, and grounds are maintained at a high level of safety, appearance, cleanliness, and functionality.
  11. Works with the Quality Assurance Team and Director of Contracts & Compliance to ensure housing compliance with grants and contracts.
  12. Ensures compliance with city, state and federal reporting and housing requirements and that compliance procedures and requirements are satisfied regarding property operations.
  13. Holds rotating on-call responsibilities

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm 

 

Salary: $45,000.00/Annually

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

  • Experience in social services or a related field and at least six months related experience, including case management; or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience in family violence programs.
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center’s insurance company. Driving agency or own vehicle, including large vehicles/truck is an essential function of this position.

Physical Factors/Working Conditions:

  • Stands, walks, and sits continuously throughout the day.
  • Reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries and manipulates various materials to assist participants’ moving.
  • Utilizes computer to access Internet and enter information into prepared forms.
  • Travel between work locations may be required.
  • Has the potential to be exposed to infectious diseases and must use Universal Precautions.
  • Is required to spend time outside daily regardless of weather conditions.
  • Possible physical danger due to the nature of the population served.
