Overview

Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven from domestic violence for women and their children in Arizona. Since our founding, we have transformed lives by providing shelter and support services to more than 60,000 adults and children affected by domestic violence. We provide a broad spectrum of services to victims of domestic violence, while working with professionals in the field on education, research and advocacy with the goal of ending domestic violence.

 

Job Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and coordination of community interaction within the Volunteer Program and Donation Resource Center Program including recruitment, orientation, training, tracking, recognition and retention of volunteers and in-kind donors. This position works closely with all programs to support staff and enhance programs and services.

 

Schedule: Mon-Fri

 

Rate of Pay: $21.00/hour

Responsibilities

  1. Recruits and retains individual volunteers
  2. Hosts volunteer orientation and trainings; plans quarterly trainings to enhance volunteer knowledge
  3. Communicates regularly with volunteers, answering queries and scheduling appointments in a timely manner
  4. Completes volunteer background checks and uses best practices when onboarding volunteers
  5. Maintains volunteer files in accordance with funding and regulatory standards; tracks actions and pertinent information in the Bloomerang database
  6. Routinely enters and reports volunteer hours and demographics; communicates interdepartmentally regarding volunteer activities and projects
  7. Trains, equips, supports, and recognizes volunteers
  8. Oversees communication with in-kind donors through email, phone and social media as needed
  9. Assists Community Engagement Manager with group volunteers and projects
  10. Works with Community Engagement Manager to plan internal events such as: Holiday Programming, Volunteer Recognition Event, and donor sponsored events
  11. Represents and promotes awareness of Sojourner Center at public speaking, community outreach events and networking groups in the community
  12. Seeks professional groups and education for professional growth and knowledge of best practices
  13. Works closely with and supports Community Engagement Manager as needed

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bloomerang desired
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center’s insurance company
  • Ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card

Physical Factors/Working Conditions

  • Ability to work in an office setting
  • Requires the use of a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Travel between work locations and within the community required
  • Flexibility in scheduling required (some evenings/weekends)
